Windows CE: The Windows CE operating for wireless mobile computing and barcode scanning is an extremely stable platform.  With embedded functionality including Microsoft Remote Desktop, terminal emulation client, web browser, and wordpad for .csv collection - you can directly remote into your database over Wifi connection and scan & input data directly into cloud.  The .net compact framework also enables development of "home-grown" applications for direct data-injection to your information server.  The famously popular MC9090-GMC9190-GMC9200 series scanguns all carry Windows CE as an available OS option to choose from.

Windows Mobile:  The Windows Mobile operating system for wireless mobile barcode scanning is versatile platform.  Reminiscent of a Windows laptop or desktop interface, it integrates with friendliness, and is embedded with Office Mobile - Excel and Word allowing spreadsheets to be created on-the-go with the assistant of a commerical-grade built-in bar code reader using a model such as the MC75MC7090, and even the MC9090 scangun. Windows mobile also delivers VoIP (Voice Over IP, aka Push-to-Talk), and the ability to browse the internet over Wifi, sync via bluetooth, access your ERP or WMS via Microsoft remote desktop client, or run your own SQL database app directly on the device utilizing EDI directly into your cloud.  Leveraged in industries such as ticket admission, snack vending, and software provides warehouse management, ERP, and barcoded inventory software providers.

Windows Embedded: Windows Embedded Handheld 6.5, aka WEH6.5, WEH6.5.x, WEH 6.5.3 is the successor to Windows Mobile 6.5. Originally released on the ES400 and MC65, then soon adapted to the MC75AMC9190-GMC55A, and an option available to the MC92N0-G and MC67. The newest breed of Windows Mobile includes many refinements such as more robust Web Browser, newer security encryptions over remote desktop, further Wifi firmware enhancements - all while bringing you VoIP funcitonality (on select models), email, messaging, netCF for custom app development, while incorporating the best and most reliable built-in barcode scanner technology available on the market.

Android: Android devices with built in barcode scanners are a phenomonon. Say goodbye to the junky aftermarket attachments (you know what we're talking about) that many struggle to use with their phones or tablets because of their heavily under-developed firmware and cheap-as-possible hardware.  With the release of top-quality, more affordable models MC40, you can easily access your cloud inventory system via WiFi through web browser, with the performance of built-in, industrial barcode scanning from the inventor (Symbol Technologies) of the bar code reader.  Develop your own Apps, and because these are engineered for business, there's no playstore for user mis-behavior.  If you need to scan barcodes on Android for the extreme environments, the MC9200 with Android is a must see.  Need field scanning and mobility?  See the MC67 with Android.
